Oh Governor

That's Governor Schwarzenegger. To deal with the state budget crisis, he and Democrats are proposing raising SALES TAX.

ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME!?! It's bad enough that so many people have been fired from their jobs and no longer have any income (unless you count unemployment benefits, but that isn't very much, especially not for a family of 4, 5, or more!), and now you want to make it more expensive to keep their homes stocked with the basics?? Now you want them to pay more for toilet paper, toothpaste, and other necessities?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?

Here's what I think they should do: INCREASE INCOME TAX ON THE RICH. Yeah, those earning more than $250,000 a year.

Let's see here: 33% of your income usually goes to the government, right? So let's say that's $250,000 gross, not net. That would leave them with $167,500 per year. Don't tell me that that isn't enough to live on per year. Man, if only I earned HALF that much...

Now let's take a low-income family that earns, oh, $40,000 a year. Take away 33%, and you get $26,800. A FAMILY CAN'T LIVE ON $26,800 IN CALIFORNIA.

SO WHAT THE EFF, GOVERNATOR? Why are you punishing the middle- and lower-income households in your state for your inability to properly utilize the state budget? What have you been spending money on? And WHY ARE YOU CUTTING BACK ON EDUCATION during the financial crisis?!?!!

I'm so angry I can't even think straight! Consider my mind boggled! During a financial crisis during which tens of thousands of families are hurting, DON'T HURT THEM MORE. Isn't that common sense??

I say don't have a family 4, 5 or more kids if you can't afford them. But that's just me.

You guys (commenters) are great Smiling The Governator isn't acting like a Republican at all. Raising taxes goes against the grain of everything Republicans stand for. And as far as your argument about taxing percentages: Everyone is taxed at different brackets. Someone who makes 40k per year is not in the same bracket as someone who makes 250k. We do not live in The United Socialist States of America (yet).

Let me give you a tangible example:

I don't think a doctor who spends years in school and racks up tons of student loans wants to hear you say anything about cutting their income. They went to school for years to help those who can't help themselves (I think I just opened Pandora's Box) and if you start telling people, when they get out of X years of school, that they'll be making the same as any other Average Joe-- guess how many people will want to be doctors?
